Controller
You will be a vital part of the MINA Accounting team, overseeing the accounting department and reporting directly to the Chief Financial Officer. You will be responsible for managing the company's accounting, cash flow, ensuring tax compliance, and reconciling accounts with both internal and external stakeholders.
The ideal candidate will have expert knowledge of accounting principles, financial management, and leveraging technology to streamline operations to ensure the company has a firm financial foundation from which to expand. You will bring innovative and flexible practices to accounting operations and be a strategic leader of the accounting team. The ability to lead and mentor a team as well as advocate and influence at the CFO and operational leadership levels is a must have for this position.
This position is fully remote requiring occasional travel.

What You’ll Do:
- Partner with the Chief Financial Officer to look for opportunities to improve efficiency and effectiveness of the Accounting Department
- Manage and oversee the day-to-day operations of the accounting department.
- Ensure accurate and timely reporting in compliance with accounting principles and regulatory requirements.
- Develop and maintain accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls to safeguard company assets.
- Provide insightful financial analysis, identify key performance indicators (KPIs), and present recommendations to senior management.
- Collaborate with department heads to develop and monitor annual budgets, track expenses, and identify cost-saving opportunities.
- Streamline financial operations by leveraging technology and implementing efficient processes and systems.
- Oversee cash flow management, working capital requirements, and banking relationships.
- Manage relationships with external auditors, tax advisors, and other financial service providers.
- Stay updated with industry trends, changes in accounting standards, and best practices.

- Oversee a team of accounting professionals, ensuring each team member receives ongoing feedback and career development support.
- Develop and own all aspects of the company's financial planning and analysis, forecasting, accounting, strategic finance, and reporting with a focus on strategic decision-making as well as tactical day-to-day delivery.
- Monitor cash balances and create rolling cash flow forecasts.
- Manage budgeting and planning.
- Generate financial models and forecasts; monitor core performance metrics on a monthly, quarterly, and annual basis, and communicate these across the business
- Collaborate with team leaders to strategize and define team budgets, hiring plans, and other key performance indicators.
- Develop and leverage a deep understanding of the key drivers of the various business levers; help drive strategic and operational initiatives as the business grows and scales.
- Own and lead the monthly accounting close and reporting process.
- Develop and document business processes and accounting policies to maintain and strengthen internal controls.
- Manage all aspects of the annual audit, tax return preparation, indirect cost allocation plan, and other filings as needed.
- Oversee the month-end close process and ensure financial statements are accurate and timely. Generate consolidated financial statements each month with detailed analysis on business performance.
What You Bring:
- 6+ years of relevant accounting experience, preferably in high-growth, multi-unit hospitality or retail business
- Proven track record as a controller or director of accounting or finance
- Intellectual curiosity and strong analytical skills
- Solid understanding of generally accepted accounting principles
- Strong customer service orientation
- Detail oriented and results driven
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Ability to assess and balance priorities in fast-paced environment
- Effective communication and collaboration skills; ability to build strong relationships throughout the organization
- Sound judgment and ability to handle confidential and sensitive information
- Experience with multi-location accounting
- Bachelor's or master degree in accounting from an accredited university
