Michelin Starred, Celebrity Chef, Michael Mina looking for Experienced Team Members for Innovative Members Club and Events Space in the Ferry Building, Shack 15!

As the primary contact for guest/member in SHACK15, the EVENT STAFF SERVER is responsible for overseeing event/table set up and breakdown, service of food and drinks to guests/members, table maintenance, maintaining the flow of service and assisting in all areas in the dining room/event space. Duties include: delivering food to tables, describing the dishes to guests, performing tableside service, clearing food and utensils from tables, resetting, bread and water service, monitoring guest satisfaction, and assisting the kitchen in expediting the service process. Must be pleasant, conscientious and professional with excellent knowledge of food and alcoholic beverage selections. Must be able to operate effectively as part of a team, communicate clearly, ensure smooth service operations and quality service.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:   

(Includes but is not limited to the following duties. Other duties may be assigned):

  • Understand and perform job duties to the expectations of SHACK15 and the EVENT Service, Food, Beverage, and Wine manuals.
  • Oversees and assists the entire front of house team with all elements of service. Takes ownership of the event space, knowing the names and preferences of their guests/members and VIPs, greeting, seating, running, bussing, re-setting etc.
  • Executes and facilitates service in cooperation with other Servers, Bartenders, sommeliers, and managers. Facilitates the communication between the FOH & BOH.
  • Describes dinner/food/beverage features as needed, including menu changes and daily additions.
  • Follows through and communicates with Management team/Chef on VIP procedures and special requests.
  • Conducts continuous training with service team regarding the spirit and cocktail list and provides complete training for all new hires.
  • Participate in Pre-Shift meetings and learn new menu items and specific event details.
  • Taking and preparing orders using the SQUARE POS when applicable to ring items in and charge correctly.
  • Describes dinner/event menu features as needed, including menu changes and daily additions. Takes food orders and provides setups and service for guests dining in the event space.
  • Coordinating transfers with manager/server team
  • Welcome all guests and ensure guests receive responsive, professional, and gracious service at all times.
  • Develops a rapport with guests/members.
  • Describes dinner features as needed (including changes and additions).
  • Answer any questions about the menu, specific food items, the wine list or any other inquiries the guest may have.
  • Liaise with server to ensure communication at all times about wants and needs of guests.
  • Understand the order taken by the server and any changes in the menu, dietary restrictions, food allergies, etc.
  • Assists the Chef in expediting the food to the bar and event space.
  • Ensure that all food and beverage products are consistently prepared and served according to the restaurant’s standards.
  • Able to take guests orders based on event order and event menu, ringing in SQARE POS when applicable.
  • Uses table numbers and seat numbers to effectively communicate to team members guests needs.
  • Sets up event per BEO and Manager directions this includes arranging and placing tables, chairs accordingly to floor plan
  • Set tables with determined china, glassware, silverware per menu.
  • Busses tables.
  • Stocks back up mis en place for event
  • Pours and refills Water, takes drink order, pours wine, deliver cocktails to guest
  • Performs Bread service.
  • Prepares and serves coffee and tea.
  • Maintains the cleanliness of the dining room.
  • Stocks and organizes linen.
  • Polishes china, glass and silverware.
  • Assists in serving and clearing all food courses
  • Breaksdown and returns equipment to assigned location and resets event floor to original floor plan
  • Ensures garbage and event floor is ready for next morning and members to arrive in the space
  • Maintain a clean, safe environment all times in the facility (coffee bar, event floor, furniture, BOH).
  • Fully understand and comply with all federal, state, county and municipal regulations that pertain to health, safety, and labor requirements of the restaurant employees and guests.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 2-3 years of Server experience, Event/Banquet service perferred.  Knowledge of service and food and beverage, generally involving at least 5 years of dining room experience and thorough knowledge of fine dining, service procedures, and functions.
  • Cleanliness, organization, and the ability to work well in a team situation are crucial to this position.
  • Extensive Food and Wine knowledge
  • Must be minimum age to serve alcohol.
  • High school or equivalent education required.
  •  Applicants must possess a strong dedication toward learning, and motivation to progress in a fine dining environment. 
  • Possess excellent basic math skills and have the ability to operate a cash register POS system and Microsoft based computer systems.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite of products and strong financial acumen .
  • Must be impeccably groomed, maintain good hygiene, good posture, and have required uniform and tools.
  • Responsive to constructive feedback from Chefs and Managers.

Salary range: $26-30/hr.
